Community Conversations are two-hour events in which community members (civic leaders, members of community organizations, employers, teachers, service providers, families and individuals) come together to discuss an important community need. These gatherings use the World Café process (www.theworldcafe.com) to develop creative strategies among diverse community stakeholders, to invite new partners to the table, and to identify potential steps for the community to address the need. We have used Community Conversations to generate ideas to increase integrated employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at both the local and state levels.
